Default Georgia Trip

Went camping on the Etowah river with some buddies this weekend. The weather was as good as it gets. Between three of us, we caught a nice little mess of bass and catfish. The only two bush hooks I set yielded these two nice blues. The big one was probably about +/-25lbs. Great weekend, but fishing was kinda slow this year...for the most part.

Oh yeah! It was awesome. That big ol' cat made my day, plus it fed four adults and three kids when we got back. I've heard people say cats that big ain't good eatin, but I would have to disagree. We sliced it thin and fried it crispy, hot and spicy. Man it was good! I've never been a big fan of catfish, but I think frying it thin like that made the difference.

What part of the Etowah were you camping on? I moved down from the Atlanta area a couple years ago and we used to paddle various parts between the Lake Allatoona dam and the Highway 41 bridge.

6 1/2 miles west of Cartersville, on Google Earth, where the river runs straight N + S for about a mile. We were camped at the north end of that straight stretch, just before the island. It was weird dealing with the dam tides lol.
