Default Flats

Well I was fortunate to get on the water Sunday and Monday. I put in at West Navarre Park just as the sun came over the horizon.

I was throwing the 17mr as the current and wind pushed me west. An unknown creature with very sharp teeth decided that I didn't need my 17mr anymore. (It was correct.)

I tied on a weightless zoom fluke. (This is my go too bait.). I have been experimenting with Pro-Cure and I'm a fan.

I made my ways to the shallows and explored the inlet. There were mullet of all sizes in every direction. After a little exploring I slipped back out and drifted casting to potholes.

Sunday I only managed to put one keeper in the boat. Well two but the second trout decide he was a ninja and did an incredible flip out of the yak. I had another keep break me off inches from my hand.

I caught ten or so 13 inchers. Some of them were fat. They are definitely eating well.

Monday I put two keepers in the kayak and had two nice fish come unhooked next to me. Both times I was trying to cast my second rod to the slot red that chased the trout to the kayak. I failed.

The 13 inchers were practically jumping in the kayak. Every other cast I was unhooking one.

I have seen some real gators up shallow.
Someone should take advantage and get out to the flats. They were not interested enough to take the fluke. Live bait will do the trick.

I don't think I will be able to get out anytime soon. The wife had a doctors appointment for the baby yesterday and they decided to induce her. So wish me luck. They came in and broke her water as I started typing this report.

I didn't catch anything impressive but here's my pet trout from Sunday.

Apologies if this report was all over the place lol.

West Navarre Park is just a little launch site. It's not a park even though that's what they call it.

It's behind Broxsons. I believe the name of the road is Blue Tip Dr.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Everything went well. Today is a good day. Now someone go catch the fish.
