Fishing In The Fog
I have a friend that it going into the hospital this Wednesday to have his spleen removed because it is his final hope for the low blood platelets he has. I told him Helen and I were going fishing today and I wanted to catch him a decent Sea Trout. We went to one of our more usual places and it was seriously foggy. Helen forgot her kayak light. So we had to cut fishing short when it got really dark. Helen and I caught quite a few runty specks and a couple 15 inchers, but we just don't keep em that size. So, I told Helen we had to go and we were about a block away from takeout. I'm thinking to myself, well I guess no fish for Steve. I know, I will bring him a portion of a Porchetta roast, that will have to do. Bout that time the rod goes nuts and managed a 19 incher for a gift. When we landed, Helen shows me her first flounder that either of us had ever caught fishing. It was a 15 incher. So, just 2 fish brought home on this trip.

I like when I get surprised like that. Bi usually leave one line in the water while packing up the rest of my gear for that reason. There have been a few times that that reel has gone off when I am about to leave. On a side note, your porchettas are amazing. I need to work closer to your restaurant... I hope your buddy has a quick recovery.
