Default First red of my trip (Port St. Joe)

Left out of Eagle harbor before dawn and hit some flats. Only thing that wanted anything besides a few catfish was a nice slot red. Caught him on a redfish colored skitterwalk in about 3' of water. Fun fight.

nice looking red! if you hit the water real early like you did, the further south you go in the bay, the more reds you will see tailing. later in the day, if you go north from eagle harbor, you can troll and sight cast the spanish. great time of year for both in st. joe. good luck. awesome beautiful bay!

Nice! Looks like you did take a left when you started. Try taking a right tomorrow like gom suggested. Since you launched out of the harbour at dawn I'm assuming that you are staying at the park? If so, check out the area between the 2 campgrounds where the little culvert is, might be fishy out there.

Low tide there looking out to the bay from campground road. Nice channel, eh? Oh yea, this is to the left the way I think you went.

Fun place. It's like fishing in an aquarium. Boocoo sharks, so be aware.

Yes I headed left to what the map calls Steamer Flats. If the wind is down I'm going this morning and I'm going to try to the right. Thanks for the advice.

Nice redfish. Thanks for taking the photo and sharing it along with your report.

Well I went out and went right from Eagle Harbor today. Off the point there are a couple sandy spots that I worked the edge of with topwater for about an hour to no avail. At this point I'm probably 100 yards off shore in 2-3' of water. I switched to a mr17 and worked it with a medium twitch and landed a couple nice slot trout over the next hour. These are my first trout ever I was pretty excited.

I'm having trouble uploading a picture. I'll try again later.

If you're lucky, the BP station has live shrimp unless you have a cast net. You'll slay em then. Bait is around the "beach" to the left of Eagle Harbour along the parking lot area.
