Default First kings!

Went out this morning with a fellow yak enthusiast and forum member. First time in the gulf by pensacola. Trolled frozen bait. Did quite well. Pretty stoked. Brought home some meat to smoke for dip. Indo have a question has anyone frozen it and smoked it later. Or do you have to smoke it right away? Awesome day. Between the 2 of us. 4 kings, 2 spanish, and some junk fish.

Wirelessly posted (Brandon's iPhone.)

I smoke my king then vacuum seal and freeze it. Just used my last frozen pack this week.

I can really only freeze it before bringing it home to atlanta and really haven't had any issues as long as I use it pretty quick and dont let it get freezer burned

Are you guys freeze the smoked meat, or are you making the whole dip and freezing that?

I freeze the chunks before smoking, process is I catch the king, bleed it and gut on the pier then ice it down till I get back to the condo. Then fillet and chunk it out into serving size pieces that get wrapped or vacuum packed so I can take them home and smoke later.

There's no pressure. It's a King Mackerel. You just troll around and get lucky like everyone else!

Haha ain't that the truth. At least kings you can regularly catch because they are actually there...I find it hilarious when people say they are going to target blackfin tuna from a kayak! Haha. Throw out a hardtail and pray
