Default First king

5-30-2016 got to fort Pickens about 9:00am saw bait in plentiful groups. Water temp high 70's. Depth 30-40foot range. king mackerel awesome fight

What did you use, and how far out did you go. Im kind of nerveous about going out in to big blue. Would my penn battle ii 6000 with 40lb braid be suffecent? I also have 2 penn battle ii 2500 w/20lb braid

The battles are perfect....I trolled using a battle 5000 with 12lb mono. That's what I caught my mahi with....I also use it to catch kings from time to time just messing around on the pier. My other trolling rod was my king pole in use for the pier with a 704 lol.....

When I hooked my spanish last week, flipper chased it...scared the hell out of me...I thought it was the taxman lol...the spanish dang near jumped in the kayak haha
