Default First kayak mahi

Cought my first mahi today from my kayak. My son and I put in west of Navarre pier and started looking for bait. I only cought 3 cigar minnows, any way we trolled for a while and didn't see anything. The wind picked up and started blowing pretty good, by time we knew it we were past the pier about a mile out. While looking around I spotted a HUGE turtle, don't know what kind but his head was as big as a grapefruit and the shell was massive. Anyway I throw a CIG with a circle hook behind to see if anything is following and no luck while reeling in it gets hit, but comes loose. Crap I think as I reel to rebait and it gets hit again. This time I see a flash. And I miss it again, but I lost my bait. I put on the last CIG and toss it behind me an start to peddle back towards our starting point. A minute goes by and my rod with the king hook and treble goes off. I pop the rod and it took off, after fighting for a while I get it up close and holy crap it a mahi. I didn't hook this fish in the mouth but in the top fin. My treble hooked him through the dorsal and didn't come out. Nice now the wife will have mahi for dinner.

I'll post a pic later. As far as size I say small, but I don't know a good size, but man it was fun.
