Default Escambia Bay 5-25

Met up with a buddy yesterday and launched from Simpson's in Pace. We headed south to the island and caught several small speckled trout. Even though they were small, we were glad to see them. Our last few trips out, we caught plenty of redfish, just no trout. Saw the same thing last week in Blackwater. Went further south to the East river. Plenty of action there. I've never seen so much bait fish & top water action in that area before. The pelicans & ospreys were diving all around us. Hooked up with a bull red that I had almost to the kayak, but then it took off again and got off. That happened to us a few times. Have the larger reds finally made it into the north part of the bay? Had a striper(or hybrid) on the line, but after a few tail dances, he threw the lure. We ended up with a 23" & a 25" red as well as three 16" trout. We probably threw back 12-14 under sized trout. Glad we were able to get out there before this storm rolls in.
