Default Destin offshore light tackle

Hey guys, here's a video from our "offshore" bottom fishing trip on Monday the 14th. It was our first time fishing offshore. My buddy caught the biggest fish of his life (he is a freshwater guy from up Pennsylvania). Probably rivals the biggest fish I've caught on a kayak, too. It was beautiful in the morning and was like glass. We trolled out to our spot with no success, not even a hit. Tried a few different options. We were about 1.5 miles out on semi-private numbers. There were so many trigger that we couldn't get any bait to the bottom. I was hoping to put out a frozen cig on a stinger rig for kings, but the triggers would demolish it 10 feet under the boat. Fine with me, though. We put some shrimp on small hooks and we got a few of them. I think we ended up putting 3 nice ones in the boat. Those things are a blast to fight on light tackle. The winds changed direction and picked up, so we decided to make our way back. Once we got back near the pass, the swell was high enough that we were surfing waves back in for about a 1/2 mile. Almost dumped it one time. Live and learn.

Enjoy the vid!

Nothing wrong with triggers, other than the funky smell and a little more work to clean they are good eating fish.
