Default BTB off Navarre Beach

Tried my maiden voyage out in the Gulf with some buddies. Got on the water at sunrise and caught some sardines and cigar minnows right away. Was pumped that my first offshore trip was starting great with all the planning. All I could catch was false albacore. Even caught one on my 8 lb set up. It was fun but I was hoping for a King or mahi-mahi.
Getting out and in with my pro angler 14 can be stressful but no problems and it was beautiful out there. When I came in there were so many people at the beach and in the water it was hard to land her on the beach.
Kayak launch on Memorial Day Weekend is a big no- no!!!!!!!

Keep at it, as long as those cigar minnows are spinning on your line like a propellar, a king will eventually kiss it. Mahi, those are rare from a yak around here, but it happens...

Went out again this past Sunday. Surf was much more forgiving at launching. Bait was harder to find but ended up getting some after a bit. Caught 3 Spanish, Bonita, remora, a baby cobia, a small amber jack, and the biggest hard tail ( blue-runner) I’ve ever caught. It was about 19”. Beach much less crowded than memorial weekend.
I had a great time!
