Default Big Reds in Choc Bay

Went out at about 2:30 yesterday on North end of Choctawatchee bay near White Point. Nothing for about 30 minutes, so went into very shallow water and picked up these two reds. I could tell big one was gonna be real close to slot, but never caught a fish that big from a kayak (just started yak fishing in October and was not comfortable getting an accurate measurement, So I actually paddled to shore since I was so close Measured just a hair over 26 in, about 7 lbs!! Other was 21 in. Caught a couple small trout as well. Funny, I was using light rod with 10lb mono so had to play the big one for a long time. Turned my 11' 6" Wilderness Ride around twice!

Im new to the fishing game. I caught a small 16" red on Eglin and threw it back. I haven't caught a red since then. I went to Shalimar bridge with some experienced guys and all we got were some pinfish asmall flounder and what my buddy called a lizard fish??? but no reds. I need help. but the ones you caught were beautiful. Nice job

Secret for me has been live shrimp. Been using gulp shrimp and various lures and have done okay on the trout. Caught a couple small reds that way, but in the last 3 trips using live shrimp (the bigger the better) I caught 10 redfish, 6 in the slot.
