Default Best Fighting fish on the flats

A new PB for the Yak - Hobie Outback (LE 2016)
GL NRX 842
1hr fight (No exaggeration )

So there I was in the mid of this summer day. ‘‘Twas a scortcher the kinda heat that makes you sweat for no reason. The water was clear the ski was blue and the jet skies where in full force not to mention the tubers, skiers, patio Boat cruisers and anyone else you could think of.... yup they where out there 2.

So now that I have painted the picture let’s roll back to the beginning. Ol’ Jeffbroo999 and I decided to make a afternoon of it - Speckled Trout was the main focus of this trip and we started at about 2pm or so..

As we where cruising down the bank / grasses edge I had seen a MONSTA a freaking Giant I’m tellin yah!! In hand was my most finesse rod in my mind I had exactly what I needed so I made the cast it was perfect just ahead of the fish and within its bearing. A few twitches and strokes of the rod and KABLOOM , plooosh wahhhooshhhh!!!! Fish on!!! I immediately told Jeff I’d see him later - this was going to be a LONG FIGHT!!

I then turn my phone on and go LIVE on FACEBOOK ( check out the 2 videos literally a 1 hr Fight )

At first drag was relatively loose- I wanted to get a feel for the fish, make sure hooks where set and insure my poor little rod wasn’t going to snap when doubled over to this Giant

As I was righting this fish i had a few spectators Following me around in their sail boat, jet skies weaving in and out of my line and boats that didn’t seem to ever see me - the. Chaos Was at a all time high

Super light tackle VS Jacks yup I was in for it but wasn’t going to give up. This was a battle of witts knowing how to play the fish and not put too much pressure on was the key ( super light line / hooks —— a pop of the line or hook pull would almost seem Inevitable )

The fish drug me for miles back and forth up and down the ICW for literally 1 hr but miraculously By the time I had landed her she ended up only 100 yrds from where I hooked her.

The battle is what makes it great!!
