Default bay - 6/4/16

After waiting the storms out this morning, I was more than eager to hit the water.

Got to my spot, 1 other kayaker was just launching and only 1 boat in eyesight, good not much traffic yet. My plan was to let the wind blow me along the bank and then later in the morning when it switched directions, it should blow me right back to the launch w/o too much paddling on my part.
Incoming tide was about half done, still good water flow but the bite was hard to locate this morning.

Tried a couple areas, nothing; tried a little cut in front of the bank nothing; tried around some long decayed timber roots, nothing; tried 2 lil creek mouths, nothing. Moved much further than I anticipated to a new area w/ more docks and deeper water.

Here’s where I found a few fish. 1st was a hit and a miss on a nice sized bull red that came out from under the dock; next couple casts, catfish…I moved to the deeper end of this dock system, hung and lost a nice trout at yak side.

Tossed my speck colored BF1 down between the lift area of this dock I was fishing and it got hammered immediately, big red…took off under the dock, we played give-n-take for a few seconds…then he TOOK my last speck colored BF1…probably the same red I saw just 15 min. earlier as he swiped at and missed the same lure.

Ok, tied on a mullet pattern BF1 and between that, z-man paddler in pinfish and a Yo zuri sashimi jerk bait I managed to hook and lose a few more. For me where I was it was a slow morning, I think the total tally was less than 12 fish. All but the red in the photo caught off the same 2 docks. The red came as I drifted back by the lil creek mouths, tossed the Z-man on a drop off, twitch..twitch, BAM!

And the wind idea, it worked, the direction changed a bit later than I thought but it blew me back in the general direction of the launch.

Damn it man, lost one of your much coveted, namesake, BF-1's. Good job Bruce, I kept waiting for more rain and never got out. I do have a couple of the BF-1's coming, so, maybe I can keep up with you.

I like 'em, they're pretty tough, pre-scented w/ procure and have good action.
