Default Bad Report

I went out Sunday morning out of Destin to hit some nearshore artificial reefs and everything started off great: didn't forget anything, sea and wind was calm, and I found schools of cigar minnows at the 20~30ft mark. With a good mix of live bait and frozen bait, I head off into the first spot and nothing. I'm thinking to myself, "ok, not every spot holds red snapper, but I'm sure I just need to hop around". Hit a hand full of spots until about 9am with nothing to show for except a flounder and a bunch of stolen bait. My buddy did have one good hook up, but got greedy with his drag and busted his line. I did see a few small amberjack cruising around and a bunch of bonito busting bait at the surface, but that was my day. Lots of small boats out there too over these spots, so I'm thinking they must have got hit pretty hard Saturday with all the small boats fishing the close reefs. I'll give it another shot maybe during the week and hopefully have a better report. On the brighter side, I called it at 9am so I could make it for a 12pm dive trip and speared 3 more flounder out there but only saw two red snapper at the first spot about 90ft and zero at the bridge rubble, north stack.

Small ones were eating after 1000. Figures that's pretty good considering it was a full moon.

I forgot to mention that we did manage to catch one short red snapper. He was close to the 16", so we let him go hoping for good karma.

Ginzu and I went out this morning for a few hours and the bite was slow compared to usual. We both got our limit, but it took work to get them. It must have got over fished this weekend. Oh yeah, the wind made the conditions pretty rocky out there today. Coming back in I jumped out of the yak and grabbed the back before a big wave toppled over me. Sporty!!!

Don't be a drama queen. It wasn't rough at all Monday.
