Default 9/9 - Destin

Bite was ok - bunch of 17" snapper - none big enough for KW points. Had a knot failure on a what I'm guessing was a pretty big snapper that hit a live bait (either knot failure or he just broke the leader above the hook - looked like a pretty clean break). Managed one trigger to bring home - at least he was decent size.

Mark,

Tasty looking trigger! If you're confident in your knots, then it could have been a shark that cut you off just above the hook. I've had that happen a few times.

I haven't taken my yak to the Gulf in about 2 months. Withdrawals are BAD!!!

Thanks for the report,
Alex

@Alex - I thought it could be that but I fought him for a while and had him up to about 25' when it broke - felt the head shake a few times so figured it was a snapper but I never saw it. Made me change from a uni to a palomar knot anyway - not sure if it's any better but why not try something different.

Ah gotcha. Makes sense. I made the switch over to palomar for offshore as well. I like it a lot, simpler knot but a little stronger.

Good luck man!
