Default 6 Jan 2013 slow offshore bite

Launched in the Gulf with Ginzu and Blackjeep about 745am. All of us got wet about up to the crotch area. Todays target was flounder. We hit up the first spot and the fish finder was blowing up. Excited we all dropped and stared at each other, seeing who was going to hook up first. None of us were getting bites. After about an 45 min we moved on. Next spot same thing. I pulled up some baby snapper and that was it. Blackjeep pulled up a few snapper, the biggest at 28". Moved on to spot 3. Finally, we start getting some hits. We all pulled up some snapper and finally Blackjeep got a flounder. Ginzu broke off on a shark and then shortly after that I get a solid pull. I'm thinking shark or large snapper. I get it close to the yak and I see alot of brown. Suprise, nice size grouper. Of course, its out of season, so Blackjeep takes a nice photo and we all sigh. Shortly after we end the day. This was a super slow morning and hard to get the fish to bite.

Love it. A day with flounder, some good snapper and a nice grouper is considered "slow". Good Job guys, no such thing as a goose egg with Yall. I'm excited to start kayak wars, should be a good year for us.

Thanks Lundy! I am truly enjoying my time off. I haven't fished as much as I thought I would, but mainly due to weather. I start full time school for my bachelors today at Northwest. That and Kayak Wars should keep my busy.

Truth be told, the weather made this one of our most miserable trips in a long time. Supposed to warm up this weekend, but the surf forecast don't look so hot. Might be time to go drown more fiddlers.
