Default 6/29 Snapper report

My old high school buddy drove up from Melbourne last night so of course we had to wet a line.

He has some yakking experience but not offshore. On the beach a little before ten in the morning and made a beeline to a spot a little over and a mile and half out. Just a small spanish on the troll out though we both had two good runs but no hook up which was strange.

Any how we get to the spot and the bottom machine is lit up like a Christmas tree. My buddy's second drop yeilds a twenty six inch fish. We quickly caught the two smaller fish, both a little less then twenty. We decided to wait for another bigger one with the bite on fire like it was.

We released a few in the twenty two to twenty four inch range and then the bite just died. The wind also really picked up so maybe it was just the fact we were drifting really fast over the spot.

We fished about an hr more with no hits, we started to regret throwing back the other keepers.

We decide to do one more drift and my buddy gets hammered. The fish hardly budged so I think it was a nice grouper. With the missed fish we had to do another drift. This time I get slammed and in went the twenty eight inch fish in the box.

We picked up two small kings on the way back in. Our wimmenz were waiting for us on the beach with some fresh chicken salad sandwiches and a cooler full of beer.

Not a bad way to spend a day with an old friend.
