Default #4 treble ouch!

Tried several methods of extraction, but ultimately had to make trip to ER with my wife driving on Mother's Day. Glad I went ER doc said caught under a tendon so wouldn't have come out without damage. Only a 30 min detour on Mother's Day so all was saved.

Thought would post here because have learned the hard way carelessness with hooks in rocking kayak equals disaster every time.

Damn i know that hurt, looks painful. Glad you didnt damage the tendon. I hooked myself the last time i was at Jim's fish camp fishing by myself and i kind of panicked and snatched it out, hurt like hell.

Default imbedded hook

I know it's not fun to look at, but have any of you salty dogs ever tried running the tip and barb of the hook on through, and clipping it off in a " tight situation" ?

I got a hook imbedded in my scalp awhile back, fishing an inlet w/ 2 other guys and we ripped it out and poured some bleach on it. healed up just fine.

Ouch! Reminds me of the one and only time my oldest daughter went fishing with me and hooked the Gotcha treble fully into her forearm. Those dang barbs. Glad you got it out ok.

Didn't run it through myself, but had a through and through on my pinky trying to clear a fouled hook off my anchor line. Did just clip the shank and slide it out, but not sure I'd push one through if not already clear through. Too much risk of nerve damage.

Wow. I was fishing by myself a couple of years ago and hooked myself in the thumb passed the barb. I first took the fish off the hook while the hook was in my hand then cut the hook from the plug. I pushed the barb through and was very painful. I thought that I would never get that barb through. Then cut the barb off and pulled the hook back through. Never want to have to do that again.

Like RT, I once pushed a very small ultralight spinner treble barb thru my leg. Amazing how tough skin is! And it was a small hook!
