Default 4/24 Paddleboard beach in Walton County

Got up and hit the beach shortly after sunrise. Paddled west about 1/2 a mile and started seeing some bull reds on the backside of the first sandbar. I was pompano fishing and they were chasing the hardtails. Once the sun got up, you could see bull reds coming down the bars in wads.

I switched over to a swimming mullet and they were on it the second it hit the water. This was my first real fishing trip on the paddleboard and it was a blast sightfishing from. It was a heck of a lot easier than my kayaks.

I turned around and headed back toward my house and heard a drone. Somebody was flying a drone about 30' above me. I looked out and could see a big school moving in so I made a cast and the Reds went nuts. They were busting all over the surface on my bait. Hooks up immediately and let him tow me a little closer in. Unhooked him and posed for the drone and let him swim away. I would imagine that drone footage has to be awesome cause of the water clarity and the proximity of the fish. I never saw the guy flying it.

All in all a fun day and really got to break in the paddleboard. It was a beautiful day. Sorry no pics.
still flippen likes this.

I purchased a Hobie standup paddleboard last November. It is long and wide enough to fish from. I haven't taking it fishing yet, but if I do, I'm going to take it to the saltwater marshes where I fish on the upper Texas coast and target flounder and blue crabs.
