Default 3 mile night report 9/16

went out last night and saw lots of yakkers out there, started catching some white trout like always and then started to troll a smaller trout out toward the hump, then something hit it and started to run so i tightned the drag down on my penn 850 and it was still pulling drag so i turned around and start to chase it down when i notice it was heading toward the bridge pillars then....pop ...whatever it was i couldnt turn its head at all and if it was a shark it was hooked perfect for it not to cut my 30# fluro leader....then as i was tossing some small shrimp on a jighead under the lights something ate one and started to run slowly.(this was on my stradic 2500fi with 10# test) thought it was a red and i started to try to chase it down to get some line back and then i put some pressure and i then a poon came jumping out the water... it spit the jighead. worked the lights back and caught a small shark and did manage this upper slot red close to shore on a live shrimp, also saw another nice size tripletail but he dove down before i had a chance to toss any at him.

Congrats on the red. I used to throw sheepsheads back years ago. Then one ended up back at my house. They're pretty good. I won't be tossing them back from now on.
