Default 3-23-2015 Cobia hunt

Fished off Navarre today with a friend , was cool & cloudy with NW winds but hearing all the reports from the weekend , we just HAD TO GO ... water temp was 65 - 67 , was fluctuating on my Fish finder all day , and was clear , couldn't find any live Cigs , Herring , Hardtails or anything else so we Fished with frozen Cigs ... Fished for 3 hours before the first action , Fish pulled my Balloon under , Fish ON !! ... 10 minutes or so later , a Firecracker Cobe spits the hook out Yakside , we watch him swim away ... weather worsened progressively so we Fished until 3 and packed it up for Home

I'm surprised you didn't get any bait though. And did you anchor? I've toyed around the idea of ballooning out baits but I hate anchoring offshore.

Anxious to hear your answer. Being in a arm paddling only kayak 3 hours of trolling might be a bit much. Anchoring and floating baits, or even drifting sounds much much more relaxing

We saw schools of Bait and threw on them , but they may have been Glass/Rain Minnows ?? ... Birds were skimming across the surface eating them , NO divers ... had Bait on my FF too , but they weren't interested in my Sabiki ... we drift-fished all day just pulsing the pedals against the current to keep our lines taught - we had a Chum bag anchored to the bottom with a buoy

Everything out there seems to be glass minnows now with the occasional hardtail.
