Default 3/16/16 - Trout and Flounder

I launched about 2:30PM in heavy SW winds, and had to anchor to get any fishing done. I tried the shallow flats first, but was interrupted by a boat passing within 10 yards of me. I moved out to deeper water with a sand/mud bottom and immediately hooked a 17 inch trout. A few casts later, another trout about the same size, but he flipped out of the yak as I was reaching for my measuring stick. I fished that area for about another 40 minutes, landing 3 trout in the 10-12 inch range, and two catfish. I moved back to the shallows in an area that the current was pushing through and started getting hits, landing three flounder of around 12 inches.

The larger trout and flounder were caught on a Mirrolure Provoker scented plastic and the smaller trout on a Mirrodine. No slow presentation today for the trout, they wanted it moving at a good clip. All of the trout were in 4-6 feet of water, and the flounder in 1-2 feet. All fish were released.

Heck yeah!
Couple reports of flounder caught recently, that's good.

Never used the provoker before, you like it?

I failed to mention I was using the gray color, which to me very closely resembles a small mullet or a glass minnow, which makes it one of my favorite plastics. I tried 4-5 other plastics including paddle tails, but I only caught fish on the Provoker and Mirrodine. If bait is scarce like it is now, I try to match the bait size and color with something like they would normally feed on. When the bait gets plentiful, I like to give them something other than what they are feeding on.

Nice report and photos. Glad to see a nice mixed bag of fishing. Thanks for also providing the name of the bait which was used.
