Default 2/3's of a grand slam before I had to bail....

I was fishing around Jim's this morning and caught two fish fish in three casts before I realized my kayak was taking on water.

First cast...blow up on my spook but I missed 'em. Second cast....16" speck. Third cast....19" red. Fourth cast....there was no fourth cast because I realized my freeboard had been reduced to less than an inch and I was close to capsizing. Luckily the water was only 18" deep so it wasn't like the sinking of the titanic or anything.

After getting to shore, I flipped over the kayak and found two gashes in bottom. Not sure what caused it but Looks like I have some patchwork to do before I can complete the slam! Most likely won't get it finished today, so I guess I will have to start over on the slam. However, I did complete another goal of the summer, which was the catch a redfish on topwater.

I guess a broke ride is a small price to pay to watch that red slam my spook.

Where I live, our gashes in the bottom hull of our yaks are caused by paddling over oysters in shallow water.

Will epoxy resin/glass adhere to the type of plastic on yaks? I picked up an old two seater for free that needs both ends rebuilt, figured it would be good for the granddaughters and keep them out of my fishing yak. Just haven't got around to testing for bonding/adhesion.
