Default 1st kayak caught fish

I went out with a friend last Thursday to fish past the second sand bar. We put in at sun rise just east of Portofino. There was a bit of surf running - his advice to me on how to get out was to paddle hard and fast - it worked. Once out it was not very good fishing conditions as the water wasn't very clear. The fog rolled in to make the air visibility match the water clarity. We did manage to catch a couple of Spanish - it's a lot of fun catching fish that close to the water. We decided to call it a day as the surf seemed to be increasing. Coming in was a blast, until the kayak turned sideways. Somehow I didn't flip so all was good. As we loaded up the kayaks the sun came out and the surf calmed down - it might have paid to stay out longer. All in all it was a great learning experience.
