Default 12/4 Quick report for quick trip to Simpson River

Mostly want to thank those of you that recommended the Rattletrap fished deep. On the few occasions I actually had control enough to cast I landed a couple of nice specks on a gold RT. We got out late and only went up to the 1st little creek on the right towards the x. Just really could not handle the wind, so turned around there and the spousal unit got a NICE keeper trout right a the mouth of the creek trolling a grub. Lots of yakkers out there today.

Paddling back (into the wind) was an adventure...

The wind was a killer today! I decided to paddle to the "x" and even further to the "y" or the "wye?". The paddle up was great until I turned around and paddled INTO the wind. Guess that's why they say you should start your day paddling into the wind so you can finish by paddling with it. I had to stop halfway back and rest at the mouth of a little creek and was rewarded with a nice hybrid striper. That hard fighting fish was fun but zapped the rest of my energy!

The numbers weren't there for me this weekend, but overall size was better. Ended with two specks at 18", another at 17" and one I estimate at 18"+ but flopped out of my hands before I could measure it. Add to that a couple of reds just short of the slot and much better than average white trout and I guess you could call it a good weekend!
