Default 12/26/15 - bw

I launched around 1300 with a fellow kayaker. The trip started off slow as the tide started to rise.

After landing the first Trout, I noticed blood on its tail. A closer look and I realized something must have tried to eat it during the fight. I thought I lost the fish when my line went slack but it must have been something rather large hitting the fish from behind. Here's a zoomed in picture of its tail.

Both sides of the fish had similar markings!

Shortly after this fish I found an area where the bottom contour changed from sand to mud and it was loaded with Trout. I ended up catching ten lower slot fish and a ton of shorts.

Here's a few pictures:

The Trout were feisty and they are fattening up nicely. If you aren't fishing, you are missing out.

Beautiful trout on the measuring board. I fished Blackwater for the first time today and I love the color that this tannic water gives the fish.

Mashed, not cut. Redfish, catfish, big Striper. What else?

Exactly! I know there are some stud Stripers in the area. Just have yet to hook into one with any size.

A big Striper would be more of a "rash" than individual teeth. My vote would be on a Gar. I've had them grab bass several times.

Nice fish and report!

Chris, I was thinking it could have been a Gar earlier today but I wondered why there wasn't any holes from the teeth. I highly doubt it was a Striper, the spacing of the lines really eliminates the possibility it was a Striper.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have been destroying some Trout lately but can't seem to locate the large girls yet. It will happen, maybe in about seven hours!
