Launched around 1330 and mullet were everywhere at West Navarre Park. I caught a 15.5" speck off the back side of the school.
I saw an upper slot red as she saw me. She spooked as a casted over her shoulder.
I knew I should have stayed with the mullet but my original plan was to explore. I set off heading west in deeper water then normal. I didn't have any bites as I drifted but there's always potential.
I eventually made my way to a shallow flat south of the normal flat I catch all of the fish on. I saw 3 large sheepshead spread out over a large area. Of course they were not interested in my swim bait and darted off quickly.
I then paddled west to drift over the normal flat. But the wind changed and my drift was not productive.
I ended up hooking into one redfish that came off pretty quick. She would have made for a nice meal.
I had a lot of short strikes. Even I few reds. They just wouldn't fully commit.
There was a gentlemen leaving when I started fishing who mentioned he caught a few trout on live shrimp.
I may head out in the morning.
