Default 1 for 2 redemption

Launched this morning in the freezing cold with one goal and that's to catch a striper. I've been chasing these guys with minimal luck so today I was focused on getting one. Around 0700 I saw a striper busting bait nears the shore. I threw on it a couple times and let it sit with some minor twitches. Finally bam, good solid hookup and a big fish. It started pulling drag and tugging me around. I had my other pole on the opposite side of the yak. I thought about reeling it in but was afraid to give any slack on my pole I was fighting-Big Mistake!!!! Well it happened, my line crossed my other pole and became extremely tangled. My god I couldn't believe it. I was so mad. My lines were complete,y tangled and I couldn't reel anymore. I dropped my rod on my lap and grabbed the braid and started fighting it by hand. Damn I couldn't believe it. He tugged and I yank and snap goes my line. I about threw all my poles in the water. What a rookie mistake. After about 15 min of crying and retying all my lines I started fishing again. About that time dthomas showed up and I cried to him for another 15 min. Thanks for listening. We were getting ready to try a new spot but I decided to drift a shoreline one more time. I looked my live bait and I noticed something messing with it. I opened the bail and gave it some time. I figured it was a nice trout. I closed the bail, set the hook and the drag starts screaming. It runs towards dthomas. I fought the fish for a while and got it near the yak. Grabbed my net and in the yak it goes. Finally a beautiful 32" fat striper. My biggest to date. Thanks Brandon for listening to my shreaks of joy. Ended the morning with a hand full of trout also.

Solid fish, Chaps! Congrats. They're on my "to do" list. We've all been in that situation. Hindsight is 20/20.

Thanks. They are challenging for sure. I've been addicted to try and catch these for the past few years. I've seen them busting bait regularly but it so hit and miss on where to find them and then to get them to bite.
