Default 1/16 Convict Apprehension

Day late on the post due to some post fishing beverages but any who....

Set out yesterday with the intention to apprehend some escaped convicts. Launched around 12pm and was fishing shortly after. First location provided no takers, they were on the run and I was targeting them in too shallow of water.

Made a quick decision to relocate. Relocation wasn't successful either. Was fishing 3 MB and wasn't seeing any kind of activity of the pylons. I targets them from 12-18ft of water at 3MB and never even got a bite. By now it's 2:30 and I can see my chances fading.

Check my GPS and have some structure in about 20+ft of water nearby. BINGO! First drop and I hang into a nice little sheepie. 2 more drops and 2 more fish. Bite slows down for a few minutes with nothing to show other than a small juvie red snapper. Then all hell breaks loose, drag is screaming and I'm bowed up.... hard... We go back and forth for 5 or 6 minutes. He's trying like hell to get back home and I'm trying like hell to put him in the bag. Finally I see color and can tell it's a quality convict. He makes one last surge that I'm able to absorb. A few moments later I bag a nice 18" sheepie. Healthy fish in the box. Fish for a bit longer and take the tally to 7 sheepies.

Also was able to battle the muscle when I hooked into a 25" black drum. That was a blast on Light tackle, he went back to fight another day.

All in all it was a successful day and am looking forward to some more warm weather.
