Default 08/20 PSJ scalloping

This is my first time scalloping and it was a blast. We arrived across from blacks island apps 0745 and immediately unloaded. We paddled across the bay towards blacks and found nothing. So we took the advice of others and checked around the bouy markers and around other boats. Overall we didn't limit out because we spent our time in between 3 and 7 ft of water. At the end of our trip we venture out to 12-15ft of water and hit pay dirt. They were bunched up in groups of 3 or 4 and were easy pickins. Unfortunately one of our bags broke loose from the kayak and we lost a good bit. I also lost my fins out there so if someone finds a white mesh bag full of scallops and a pair ocean pro black dive fins you just hit pay dirt. All in all for the first time I had fun, I'd suggest others try it. It really gives you a chance to perfect your reentry maneuvers. Weather was perfect. Sunny with random overcast, a bit of drizzle rain and nice calm winds made for snorkeling awesome. At thenend of the night we came home with 2 pints of fresh bay scallops out of 3 divers. Not too bad considering how much time we spent at then end.

Comfy fins, good fitting mask and snorkel. Mesh bag for catch and dive flag are tour basics. A butter knife works when you go to shuck them. Lots of cold water on hand cause you will het thirsty and just incase some dramamine
