Default Saved a cherished rifle....

Here's a little before and after on a Winchester Model 70 bolt. This came out of a fellow prairie dog shooters rifle that he blew up while "load testing" it. It's a custom rifle that was built at great expense. Bolt's are near impossible to find for these rifles and when you do find one in proper shape they're $350 and up.... I repaired this one after many hours labor. What you cannot see is a very narrow and shallow groove that the extractor rides in... that little groove had to be welded up and then cut with a series of small hand files. Then, I had to make a fixture to hold the bolt in a lathe while I turned the surface of the head back down....

It may not look like much but this was a very hard job that I'm very proud of the way it turned out. A cherished rifle was saved.
