Default Looking for a good Gunsmith

I used to use Frontier guns, but that last few times I called, I got no answer. I left messages but they were never returned. It makes me a little nervous to take my gun back there. I have had him do work on quite a few of my guns and I really liked his work. I just cant take my gun there if im scared that I cant get back in touch with the guy.

Having said that.
I need to have my Ruger 10/22 barrel threaded. I called that Lock and gun place, and he quoted me $250.00 for it. I can buy a threaded barrel for that price, and probably buy a new 10/22 with a factory threaded barrel for that price.

Any suggestions for reasonable priced work?

I've never used them but Howard at Rumble Weaponz is suppose to be really good. Rick Rankin used to be one of the better ones around but his age far outweighs his quality now days. I've seen some things he's done over the last few years and I'd be embarrassed to let that go out of my shop if I did it.

I'm afraid this is one of those skills that are fading away sort of like
the shade tree mechanic before the computer systems were installed on autos.

Contact this guy from rimfirecentral.com

Check that forum out as well. Tons of good info.

Take your stock off, and take the two allen screws out below the barrel. Take the v block off and pull you barrel out of the receiver. Super easy. Put it in the mail to this guy for $60 bucks. If you want it to shoot super accurate have him rechamber the barrel. Its worth it and will shoot lights out.

Scratch that! Just take the barrel off and replace with one from ebay for $92. Doesn't look like this guy is doing smith work at the moment. I'd still try to contact him though.

Talk to Jerome (oneshot) on the gulf coast gun forum if you are on there. Or I can give you his #... He has the skills to do it and lives in Jay! You can also contact Enforcement Firearms in Defuniak too!

I'll second Rumble Weaponz. I took my gun to him and got it back within a couple of weeks completely fixed and cleaned inside and out.

Good guy to work with.
