Default Help veterans AND win a gun - or three

It’s time for the annual Operation Outdoor Freedom gun raffle through Scott’s Outdoor Sports in Jay.

This year, I’m excited to tell y’all that we will be raffling off not one, not two but THREE guns in order to raise funds for our annual hunting and outdoor events for wounded veterans.

The weapons up for grabs this year are as follows:
Kimber Hunter rifle in 7mm-08 – MSRP of $891
ATI Omni Hybrid AR-15 in .223 – MSRP of $569
Smith & Wesson Shield in 9mm – MSRP of $449

Tickets are $20 and there are only 250 printed. The drawing will be held Oct. 18 at the Munson Volunteer Fire Department and winners need not be present.

The first ticket drawn gets their choice of prizes with the second ticket drawn getting the next choice and the third ticket drawn gets the last prize. You may win multiple times if you purchase multiple tickets.

All of the money raised through the raffle or donations goes directly to support the events in Blackwater – Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties. ALL MONEY STAYS LOCAL.

You receive a gift card for the value of these items so if these aren't exactly what you're looking for, you can take your pick from everything Scott's Outdoors has to offer.

The PFF has always been a huge support of this program and I expect y'all will be again this year.

There are tickets distributed at Scott's Outdoors and Whip-R-Wheel in Berrydale. I am working on getting some tickets out in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. The best way for our out-of-town folks to participate is to mail a check in and we’ll get you your tickets.

Make checks payable to:
Friends of the Florida State Forest - note that it's for Operation Outdoor Freedom
Mail to: 11650 Munson Highway
Milton FL
32570

We currently have tickets available in north Santa Rosa at our Munson office on 191, the Munson Store, Whip-R-Wheel in Berrydale and Scott’s in Jay. We also have tickets available at our Okaloosa County office on 189 near Karick Lake and our Milton office on Old Bagdad Highway.

If you are part of a civic club or social group and think your organization would like to take part, I can come speak at a meeting or give you full packet of tickets to try to sell as well.

For those that don't know about Operation Outdoor Freedom, let me tell you; this will be the sixth year we have taken wounded hunters (mostly Iraq and Afghanistan vets, some with back issues, some in wheelchairs, some missing limbs) to a 3,000-acre closed area of the state forest. We have built some top-notch shooting houses (all wood was harvested and milled on the forest, by forestry staff) and planted about a dozen food plots.

In addition to our big deer hunt, we’re hosting two archery hunts, a second gun hunt, a muzzleloader hunt and a fishing trip!

Did you know ...
There are more plastic pink flamingos than there are real pink flamingos in the world.
