Default Forum spam ads

I believe you have made a mistake with unrelated spam ads now peppering the individual threads in the forum. This will degrade the forum considerably. I fully understand business economics, but a much better altenative would be to offer an option that would eliminate the ads. Crappie.com and I believe catfish1.com have a paid subscription that blocks pestering ads for a subscriber Those who do not pay the fee have to put up with the ads. Please consider this alternative and give us a way to remove the spam in forum threads.

Hi,

Are there any other suggestions you might have to add to a paid subscription? We will look into this and consider.

Cheers,
Sheena

The obvious response to this is to return to your previous policy that protects subscribers from these intrusive adds. Those who are not subscribed and just lurk could be targeted for adds.

Leave forum as is.
I am viewing this thread and I only see three ads at a time.
And they do not cover up anything either.
Yes they are there but I am here looking at what is posted, not what is being peddled.

Hi,

Can you clarify which ads are the intrusive ads? We are trying to fix the floating text ads. Are those what you are referring to?

Cheers,
Sheena

I suppose it's just a matter of opinion but I consider adds mixed in with specific subjects/threads are intrusive to the decorum of the thread . Put them in the top banner, a lower banner, along the sides or in a box. If someone wants to look at them they can. The threads should remain free of such things as they have for many years. Of course if they remain as is folks can just simply bypass them and not open.

You will get "intrusive" ads on top of the posts if your looking without being logged in.
Then they go away.

They have been removed, at least for the time being. They were appearing as "sponsors" with postings within a thread. They were not pop-ups but individual posted ads.

I thought they had been removed but there is one in the Fresh-Brackish Water, General Q & A.
