Default looking for someone to show a rookie how it is done

hey my name is jason my family has purchased a condo in orange beach and also a boat. I have fished all my life (freshwater) and have been on numerous guided saltwater trips, but now that i have a boat of my own I have learned quickly that guides are very much so under appreciated and also under payed. I have been strugling bad to run across fish caught a few spanish on the beaches but now i am ready to try bottom fishing, I met a new friend that gave me a list of artificial reefs, but there are so many, dont know where to start. I have a 24' Polar centerconsole with twin 115 yamahas, with gps and chartplotter, and looking for 2 experienced fishermen to help a rookie along. I live in ga so i would need to schedule this a little ahead of time. I will be down this weekend to try again, but i have a full boat hopefully we will luck into a few. If anyone is interested in a trip please let me know it is driving me crazy not being able to catch fish.

thank you for you time

jason

Listen to Bill, he's been fishing and diving these waters longer than most of us have been alive.

thanks alot for the help i actually had a productive 15 mins. of fishing before the girlfriend started getting sick it was kinda ruff out there. caught about 7 or 8 snapper in about 10 or 12 drops and wasnt on top of the hole, the closest i could get to it was about 100 ft. i was trying to drive and drop anchor by myself, girlfriend couldnt do much with the waves

thank you for the advice it was very helpful

A tip I read somewhere about anchoring mentions if once you set your anchor you can move the boat from side to side by changing the anchor point on the boat. If you had it tied off at the bow and want to move a little sideways, tie it off to a cleat on the side of the boat. The current will push your boat away from the side it is tied to.Since your experience is mostly freshwater I feel I should mention to you do not tie your anchor of the stern.
