Shepard's pie sounds good. Been a while since I've cooked that.

we do a recipe in the dutch oven that ought to work. first time i had it , it was with tenderized round steak. we changed it to venison.
cut the meat into 2" pcs, tenderize them and brown them a little in the dutch oven, cut potatoes across in 1/4" thick pcs, cut onion into 1/4" thick rings.
grease the pot with what ever you want, i use bacon grease.
put a layer of potatoes in the pot, then a layer of meat, then a layer of onions.
repeat as many times as the pot will hold.
lay a layer of bacon strips over the top and pour a 1/2 cup of broth(any kind), cover and cook for 3 hours at 350, remove lid and cook for another 30 min.
good luck!

Our Scouts do "foiless" packs in the Dutch oven. Same receipe as a foil pack w/ meat of choice (dark meat chicken, chunks of any beef you like, or meatballs) and all the veggies. 350 for 1hr or until tender. Stir every 20 min. Don't forget lots of real butter!!
