Default Best Carp prep.. Yes... Carp!

I'm a Yank by birth, and when I moved to the South many years ago a good fishing buddy of mine shared with me what he believed to be the best recipe for Carp.

Now, where I come from there is a very small percentage of people that eat carp. Very few people choose to eat it; most of the ones that do are pretty much doing it for survival. I do know of one restaurant that prides themselves on the carp they serve, but to be honest it doesn't seem to be doing so great. I tried carp at that restaurant before and I couldn't take more than a bite. So, having heard him talk this recipe up my curiosity was certainly aroused. I would like to share it with you all now.

So, the ingredients for this recipe is a bit unorthodox and took me by surprise when i first heard it, but stay with me on this...

You'll need:
-1 5-10 lb carp (whole carp, just gutted)
-2 banana leaves (or one large one that will wrap around the whole carp with a little of extra room)
-seasoning of your choice (he used only old bay)
-1/8th stick butter
- 2-3 lbs of fresh cow manure (stay with me..)

Prep:
-Lay out your banana leaves flat (overlap edges by about 2" if using 2 leaves)
-Apply the manure evenly across the leaves
-Generously apply your seasoning and butter all over the fish
-Lay the fish on the bed of leaves and manure and wrap, tucking in edges (like you would a burrito)
-Bake in oven on 325 for 25 min
-Remove from oven and let stand for 10 min

And Done!!!
-Unwrap leaves, discard Carp, and eat the manure... trust me, you're better off.

Oldest joke ever but a good one! Have you tried carp? I grew up eating carp.

http://joetessplace.com/ Yes carp is what they serve and the restaurant made it on the show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

Haha, sorry it was new to me. I have tried carp, was the most disgusting flesh i put in my mouth. It was spongey, dirty tasting, and smelled like a combination of feet and BO.

I'd eat it again if i had too, but not if there were any other options around.

Spent some time in Germany on business trips. My theory in when in Rome do as the Romans do so in a restaurant I chose carp off the menu. Came with a to die for cream sauce but when I got to the fish it was soft and oily. All I could think off was how good this would be on a decent piece of fish.
