Default which yak

Thinking of getting another yak for my wife, kids or to take a buddy fishing. There are 2 on sale here for $350. The pescador 10' and an Ocean kayak 11.5 scrambler. The intent is for a recreational/fishing yak.

These are both on sale and it will be on of the two. No need to recomend something else.

I'd go with the bigger one. I have a scrambler as a "buddy kayak" and it's decent. It's going to be the more stable of the 2

Would it be better for fishing too? The pescador only has one rod holder so it wouldn't take much to have it set up pretty much the same.

You can mount a rod holder anywhere on the boat for about $15 and 10 minutes of work, don't let that be your deciding factor.

I've never used a pescador, so take this with a grain of salt, but IMHO a 10' boat is probably too small for most grown men and the style of fishing common in this area. Doesn't track well and is likely less stable than the scrambler. The scrambler design isn't the most hydrodynamic model out there, but it makes up for it with stability. I've used it as a diving rig in the Destin bay, with tanks and the works and it was fine. Not quite as stable as my primary kayak (Heritage Redfish 14), but didn't expect it to be.

The only thing is that, the scrambler is not comfortable without a seat, so hopefully the one you're looking at comes with one.
