How long has this phenomenon been going on now? I started hearing about it in Louisiana in 2011.

I don't think you'll ever get an accurate answer and it definitely wasn't anyone on this forum including myself. I've been at it for quite a while and there were guys going out long before me so....

Are we talking 20 years or longer than that?

BTW, what do you use for tarpon? Do you ever use Coon Pops? I have a bunch left over from when I used to tarpon fish Grand Isle and was thinking of slinging a few this weekend to see if these tarpon like them. Also, how far off are the tarpon from the beach here?

I think his last name was Norris and first name was Chuck? They say he rode a 20 ft great white shark while fishing for whales and he named the shark kayak!! Lol

The first time I ever went fishing in the gulf in a kayak was 2004 or 2005, I wouldve been 14 or 15 at the time...Not that I knew what the hell I was doing out there but that didn't matter to me! I remember having the time of my life catching spanish and hardtails with spoons and gotchas out of a 15' Old Town Predator that was given to me by an uncle. But there are undoubtedly guys that have been doing it a whole lot longer than that. Good food for thought though
