Smile Where to fish for specs?

Hello all, just moved back to Niceville from Indianapolis (thank God) and was thinking about getting the old Ascend fishing yak out of storage.I've never taken it out in the Gulf because I'm scared of getting eating by a shark or a cuda nippin my bunions off.So I was thinking where would I find some nice specs this time of year? I live in the big city of Niceville but can travel anywhere. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

This time of year I have had good luck with where any river flows into the bay, try to find smaller creek or slew off the main river not very far from the bay and find deeper bends in the slews and if you have a bottom machine just keep going until it lights up like a christmas tree, they will be stacked together this time of year and so will the redfish!! good luck and hope this helped!! also my bait of choice is fresh dead shrimp or live shrimp

Hey Reel, thanks for the reply! Very good advice indeed. Is there anywhere specific you go?I was thinking about Basin Bayou out here near where I live but when we moved here 1987 I heard about the agent orange testing out there.I also agree with using live shrimp,I've had great success using them under a popping cork while wade fishing.

You can try the grass flats mid day when they warm up... tho I haven't given it a shot this winter. Either too windy or too cold for me.
