Default weird trip

Arrived at Navarre Beach this morning at 5:15 to meet a friend and fish..... he didn't show... but thats Ok, he was moving yesterday and I know he was tired. Anyway, I almost left and went home. There was a fairly active lightening storm I could see off the coast and I didn't know which way it would move. So I went to the sound for a bit and threw my cast net to see what I could catch for bait. I got nada. When the sun came up I scoped out the beach again and things looked better so I unpacked the kayak. First thing I noticed was that I forgot my center rod holder. At this point I almost left due to frustration... but since I was there I figured I would at least get the boat wet. I launched out and paddled toward the end of the pier. Along the way I saw a school of running baitfish so I hooked up a cigar minnow and cast out with my baitcaster. Just to put the cherry on top of things as they were going that day... I got a huge birdsnest in my line on the cast... and I couldn't get it out. So I had had enough and I clipped my line. However, I wanted to save my stinger rig so I started pulling the line in by hand. Sure enough, just then I felt a tug. Fish on! It wasn't hurting my hands to keep pulling in the line so I just held on. Got it to the boat and had a nice size Spanish on the hook. Go figure! After a morning like that I'll take what I can get!

I saw the same thunderhead and all the lightening and decided that Inshore was a better idea. I should have stayed and fished the GOM as the inshore was dead.
