Default thinking

about building me some outriggers for my kayak so i can stand up with out my yak flippin over. should i make them perminantly mounted to the side or make them go into the rod holders so i can get them on and off??????????

Do a search on this forum. There have been a couple rigs put together already. The running trend is for removable outriggers since you won't want them for every situation plus they'd get in the way for transport and storage. If I remember correctly, PVC and crab trap floats where the materials of choice.

hmmmmmm might not be as ghetto as the crab things lol ill probabily use aluminum and sculpt up some foam and fiber glass the whole thing.

Remember light weight is your friend, and you don't want them to create much drag. Probably just barely touching the water or not at all. Or make them so they fold out of the way when you're under way. Good luck!

Use 3 or 4 inch pvc for your float and I have some tubeing at the shop for your mount. This is the same size as bow rail tube so you can use those cheaper fittings. Even plastic fittings will work.
