Default Push Pole

Has anyone made a sturdy push pole? If so what did you make it out of?

Ordered cheap fiberglass pole pieces off eBay and glued them together. Super cheap and sturdy push pole.

i made a push/stakeout pole for myself and a couple buddies using fiberglass rods and pvc. if you order from the place below, shipping is flat up to a certain amount, so it's cheaper if you have a few guys to go in together. making 3 poles, it ended up being under $24/pole. they have a lot of options with tips, handles and couplings for the 3/4" poles, but i wanted to save on weight, so i went with the 5/8". made a "Y" foot out of 1/2" pvc (t section, 2x 45* bends, and 2x caps with pipe to join them). you have to shave the pole just a hair to get the pvc to fit over, but it can be easily done. i used an angle grinder. works great for the yak and on the paddle board i just picked up.

ordered from here: http://www.mgs4u.com/shallow-water-boat-anchors.htm

some pics of the build:

pounded the pvc sleeve onto the shaft with a small sledge and then the pavement

ground down the sleeve so it wouldn't catch on anything

tip after grinding down

finished
