Default Potential Deals-Sports Authority

Just heard that Sports Authority is closing. It's a sad thing for folks to lose jobs, but on the other hand it's looks like they should have some decent sales on the Kayaks in stock, hopefully at liquidation prices.

They've been closed for a couple years now.

They're closing all of their remaining stores and are going out of business.

When they closed the store here, they jacked up all the prices and then had % off. No deals to be had.
In 1999, when they quit carrying handguns and had a clearance sale, I got a couple of good deals but that's the only deals I ever got in that store. I don't miss it.

I'm hoping that the Panama City fl store has some good deals. They are full of Pescadors and Ocean Kayaks

The one that they had in Pensacola was the biggest waste of space ever.

It is sad to see a company go under due to too much debt. It is really hard for us as my son-in-law works for them in their corporate office in Denver as a graphic designer. It will be interesting to see what kind of deals on gear will be offered.

Jeff, they sold guns when they first opened, then in 1999 they quit selling handguns. They had a 20% clearance sale but they went fast. I got up there first day and got a couple of good deals.
They kept long guns for a year or two after that and I quit going in there so I guess they quit selling those too.
Now that I think about it, that store was good for two things - snow skiing equipment (they had some great end-of-season deals) and, for a while, Penn reels.
They used to say they had the lowest prices in town on Penn reels and every once in a while they would have a 20% off coupon in the paper.
I paid something like $65 for my Penn 6500ss and 7500ss.
Then they got smart and started putting them in the exclusions so the coupon was no good for them.

The one where I live (VA) closed a few months ago. Jacked up prices, with percentage off to make it regular price.
