Whats up guys im about to buy a kayak off a friend at work, looking to get into fishing on it. I wanna start out slow i was thinking about hitting the little small waterways by simpson river and the area like you are going to Pace. Maybe even Big Lagoon, but until I get use to paddling and stuff i wanna keep to some fairly shallow water 5-8 foot. are those area's in that depth range?

Thanks for any info.

Most of the Simpson River area is fairly shallow. Out front of the launch and immediately south of the bridge it is 6-8 feet. There is a 10-14 ft channel over on the west side near Jim's that runs north-south. Once you are clear of the bridge and out in the river it is less than 4-5 feet. Around that small island it is 1-3 ft. But a lot of the bottom is mud, I would not want to try walking around... Check this link - http://ocsdata.ncd.noaa.gov/BookletC...okletChart.pdf
