S it worth the money? Also would I need the ten or fifteen dollar version?

Go ahead and get the 15.00 version with the navigation aid. I did and it has been well worth it.

If I could just plug a transducer into the earphone jack and suction cup to the side of the boat I wouldn't need a big fancy electronics unit.

I purchased the app and it has been helpful and I dont even think ive used it to the full extent it is capable of.

I bet if you got the right cable you could do it. I know for sure an iPad can be used as a multimeter with the right prongs and the app.

I had talked to a friend about it and it seems like it could easily be done, but there isn't a software program to actually view the readings. Not yet anyway and I doubt it will be too long before something comes out.
