Default My first time fishing this year! 01-11-10

Got to the launch site around 1 pm and threw out a jirk bait while I waited on Ollie to show up with the live shrimp. Got a decent hit on the third cast, thought I had it but hook pulled, probably a red cuz it was in maybe 4ft. of water. There was still some thin patches of ice floating around and dead mullet on the bottom

Ollie shows up and we start fishing, i got a 16 and a 17in. red in the same spot I had the hit but bothon live shrimp.

I hear Ollie calling me and paddle over to him and he has a nice 19 in. speck. This was my first time fishing this area so i tried a few spots until i found them. Once in the spot it was every cast.

I caught 25 redfish most were small 16-17in but a few were above slot biggest 24in and Ollie got 19 redfish and a 19 in speck. It was cold! We fished til about dark and i could barely move my fingers(I'm skinny)

This was also my first time using my new head cam so I accidently deleted some of the better video and some of the still shots didn't come out as planned but next ttime quality will be better. Its a 170 degree angle fish eye lens so just taking a snapshot is a little different than normal.

heres a link to the video
I know it says dec 11, guess I forgot what month it is:doh. Thats what happens when you got no job.:banghead

This is the one I took home, a little over 20 in.

I'm having trouble getting the rest of the still pics but will add shortly and once again sry for the quality of the video, it will be better next time!

Loved the video, looks like the reds have really moved in. The water looks like it finally cleared up.

Yeah the reds are there but I think the specks are further in the bayou or it was just too cold for them. Ollie said that 19 in speck didn't fight a bit and all the reds, once you pulled them out of the water, they didn't move much at all.

Its the go pro hero cam. Its tiny, wear it like a head lamp or I've seen it hard mounted on kayaks, it takes 2 AAAs water proof housing up 100', takes about 1hr of video on 2gb sd card and also takes still shots. The one I bought cost just over 200.00 with shipping and tax. About 2 weeks after i bought mine they came out with an HD model that comes with a rechargable battery pack for about 70.00 more:banghead. The thing is tho even with the one I have these video files are large and down loading takes a long time, so i couldn't imagine with the HD model.

I think every kayak fisherman should have one! For the price you can't beat it!
