Default My first kayak

Well I picked up my first kayak today. I've never been in one yet but I thought I would get a outback. I'm getting it from a friend and he told me to take it and try it out Thursday and Friday and see how I like it. I have heard a lot of good things about them and I wanted hands free for fishing. Can't wait to put it in the water tomorrow and giving it a try. Looking forward to meeting y'all, and maybe you will let me tag along.

Default first time out

I have live here all my life so I have fished a lot on Escambia River and the flats. We use to speck and red fish all the time on the grass flats off of shore line and around the bridges. I'm going to Escambia tomorrow being my first time out on a kayak so I figured that would be a safe place to start and I can hide from the wind if it gets to bad. I guess I'll put in at jims and bump around there for a little while. Anyone else thats wants to go, I'd love to meet up with them. I really need someone else to check out the outback because I don't know what to check or look for. I hate to spend that much money and it be a lemon. I did notice a dent on the bottom but it might pop out. Any help would be much appreciated.

Another good resource you may want to check out now that your a kayak owner would be the Gulf Coast Kayak Fishing Associations website, with a dedicated forum, lots of news for the kayaking community.

I have to mention our 8th Annual Spring Tournament on April 13th with early registration discounts ending on March 31st. For more information about the tournament follow this link: http://www.gulfcoastkayakfishing.com/Tournament.htm
