Default Kayaking beach for bonito

I’m going to be in the Destin area the last part of July through mid August. I would really like to get into some bonito from my kayak. I will be launching from the beach. What fishing techniques do you suggest and is that possible that time of year? Thanks for all your help!

Very very possible. Fish the first couple hours and the last hour. Watch for birds and fish busting. You shouldnt have trouble finding fish on top early and late.

Okay thanks, What method do you suggest for them. Live bait or a specific type of plug?

Okay, thanks I appreciate the help! If I was to drift live bait out there would I use a king rig?

You can use a king rig and they will hit on it while you troll or if you cast it out where they’re popping on the water. They usually aren’t very picky, gotcha or spoon and they’ll nail it.

You may not even have to paddle out. I was catching them from the beach last week. Waded out to waist deep amd chucked a 5/8 spoon. Caught 6 bobos and a nice overslot red in an hour and a half.

Thanks for all the tips and advice! It’s greatly appreciated! It would be great to be able to catch some off the surf!
