Default Kayak fishing while on vacation in July

I was wondering how far out do you need to paddle out to troll for red fish, bonita, and mackerel. The family and I are going back down to perdido key the last week of July and I would like to try to catch a few fish out in the gulf in my kayak. I have a beacon 120t which I know isn't the best for going out in the gulf but it is what I have. I also needed a two seater so I could take my son out in the inlet and bay at the park. He will not be with me in the gulf. The main purpose for getting taking the kayak down there is to carry bait out for sharks in the evening, my son is fascinated with sharks and wants to catch a larger one than the 2 or 3 foot ones we normally catch. Since I'm going to have it down there anyway I figured I would fish also. Also are there any tips on kayak fishing on the inlet side of the park? Thanks

You only have to go out past the second sandbar for trolling. You'll see it when you get here. As far as sharks, make sure to read up on the new regulations that were just passed. I'm sure FWC is gonna be hot on enforcement.

I will be down there July 20-27. If that is the same dates for you, would you be interested in hitting the water with me? I am bringing my Lure 2 but have never kayaked in the gulf before.
